4 month checkup today!

Jacob is 4 months old... 16 pounds, 13 ounces...and 27 inches long! Cousin Z - watch out!

These measurements put him in the 80th percentile in weight and 97th percentile for height. He's gained well over 3 pounds since his last visit. The doctors like to see a 1-3 pound gain so Jake was an overacheiver, yet again!

Turn up your volume and watch this video! This is Jake after 3 shots (and we don't mean tequila!) Party on, buddy!

A Christmas Wish

Many of you have asked what to get Jacob for Christmas. We have thought about this, and yes, toys and clothes are wonderful. But, we hope you entertain this other idea, at the very least.

Recently I've read a book called "The Last Lecture" by Randy Pausch...maybe you've heard of it? This man, an incredible testament to fatherhood, gave a final lecture at Carnegie Mellon shortly before he died of pancreatic cancer. In it he details his life's lessons, whether learned or taught. He talked of teaching lessons to those who aren't expecting it. Teaching by example, hard work, and honesty. He wrote the book so his 3 children would know his father.

So, I thought, why wait...what we wish for Christmas is for each of you to write a letter to Jacob. Tell him who you are, your story, and what you wish for him. What do you want to teach him? What wisdom can you give him? Can you pass to him one of your life's greatest lessons? Tell him about your families...your parents, your siblings, your life. Tell him the stories that we can't. Tell him stories about us!

We will be writing Jacob a letter, too. We haven't decided when he'll get these letters...but one day when he's mature enough to understand the messages, we will give them to him. We won't read them unless he asks us to...this is your private conversation to him.

We would love it if you would do this for him. If you need inspiration, read the book.

Love,
All of us

Jake-o-lantern!

Daycare surprised us with this card for Halloween!

Daycare fun!

Jacob has started daycare and is having a lot of fun...mommy had a harder time of it than Jacob did. All the ladies love Jake (as if they wouldn't?!), and are amazed at his size and maturity at 3 1/2 months old. He even has himself a little girlfriend...

Roll over and giggle, toothie!

Big news for Jake!

On Thursday, October 9, Jacob giggled for the first time! It's kind of a machine gun laugh, and still takes a lot of effort from mommy & daddy to get him to chuckle - but completely worth it!

And on Saturday, October 11, Jacob rolled over for the first time! Once he gets on his tummy, he looks around as if to say..."how did I get here and what do I do now?"

And he's got a tooth coming in! Big boy food, here we come!

World Traveler!

Jacob's only 3 months old, and yet he is already a world traveler. From 9/18 - 10/1, we drove from NH to KY to IL, then back to NH. In Grampy & Grammy Hager's house, Jacob slept through the night and let mommy and daddy sleep until 6:30! The much appreciated sleep was needed! In KY, Jake was able to visit with Uncle Josh, Auntie Mary, and cousin Cam. In IL, boy oh boy did Jacob meet some family...Grammy and Grampy Hager, Great Grandma Weaks, Great Grandpa Hager, Great Grandma Pat, Great Auntie Denise, Great Grandma & Grandpa Kingsley, Great Aunt Cindy and Great Uncle Rick, Great Uncle Bill, Great Uncle Craig, Cousins David, Kim and Tyler, Cousin Jeremy and Emily, Bill R., Helen, Ike the Dog, and Pacer and Elvis the Cats. Hopefully we didn't miss anyone, but there's just so many people on daddy's side!

We all had a terrific time, and are so grateful and thankful that everyone was able to meet Jacob. He truly has such loving family, both on the east coast and midwest. We're all so lucky!

Oh, whatta big boy!

Jacob had his 2 month check up today!

Height = 25.5 inches
Weight = 13.14 pounds

He continues to be off the charts in height, and is in the 95% for weight...the doctor suggested we contact the Patriots to see if they're interested in an early recruit! At these measurements, he's the height of a 5 month old, and the weight of a 4 1/2 month old...but he's only 2 months old!

Best smiles to date!

Our BIG boy!

On Jake's 2 week checkup, he measured at 10 pounds, 6 ounces, 23.5 inches. He was in the 97 percentile in weight, and off the charts for height. Given his measurements, he's the size of a 2 month old!

Put up your dukes!

FUN FACTS!

Here's a few fun facts about Jacob!

Nicknames: Fussy Buns (Mommy made up a song with this nickname!)
Zero to sixty (Jake goes from happy to grumpy just like a race car going zero to sixty!)
Milk mouth (Need we say more??)

Fun Stuff:
When Jake sneezes, he sneezes twice and then goes "ahhhhh." So cute!
When Jake is Fussy Buns, we go into the bathroom and turn on the shower...Jake loves the sound! But don't try to fool him with the kitchen sink, he knows the difference!

First smiles!

On August 16th Jake flashed his toothless grin for the first time! Mommy and Daddy were jumping around like idiots, and he just kept on smiling at us!

Grumpy elf...

Doesn't he look like he should be in Santa's workshop making toys? We laughed so hard (and yes, at him and not with him). Even Jake doesn't look so happy!

Daddy worked so hard on Jake's jungle room!

Jacob's arrived!

Jacob joined our family July 16, 2008 at 1:48pm. He was delivered via c-section, weighing in at a whopping 10.1 pounds and measuring at 22.5 inches long and looking just like his daddy! We couldn't be happier!

Keep up with us!

Welcome to our blog! We'll share photos and Jacob tidbits through this web page. Check back often for updates!
